The cult film of the first Tron film was considered by Disney as a sign to create a sequel for the film; however, it wasn;t until year 2005 when Pixar (now owned by Disney), decided to start with the new sequel. Instead of giving it the name of Tron 2, it was eventually renamed to Tron: Legacy.
Tron: Legacy
According to Pixar, the film will bring together a few of the original actors, with Jeff Bridges reprising his role as Kevin Flynn. His son in this film will be played by Garrett Hedlund. Olivia Wilde will play the role of Quorra, their guide while in the world of Tron. She will also be Kevin Flynn’s love interest.
Like the first Tron film, the Flynn’s will have to play a series of games within the virtual world of Tron. Their survival heavily depends on how well they play the life-threatening games.
If you haven’t seen the Tron: Legacy trailer yet, it’s time you do. The new film will be very different from the first one and it will contain more action scenes and a lot of futuristic visuals. The biggest names in the animation industry are attached to this project as well so it will surely become a larger cult hit than it’s predecessor.
Tron: Legacy will be released on December 17, 2010.
