Before becoming a superhero in the city of New York, Spiderman was once an ordinary high school kid, orphaned at birth and raised by his loving aunt and uncle. Unlike other kids, he was shy and did little sports, sometimes, none at all. He often hid behind his camera since he was a school publication photographer with rather bad eyesight. Peter Parker was just an ordinary kid who liked another ordinary girl named Gwen Stacy.
But a single bite from a radioactive spider turned this ordinary lad into a superhero who would one day spawn the longest running and most successful stream of comic books, as well as 3 successful feature films from year 2002 to 2007. Your ordinary neighborhood kid Peter Parker suddenly became “your friendly neighborhood” hero, Spider-Man.
The idea for making Peter Parker start off his superhero journey as a teenager was devised by Steve Ditko himself. His partner, Stan Lee, agreed to create a character who would be able to relate with the challenges of growing up. Most big comic book fans were teenagers and with Spider-Man’s persona as Peter Parker, they would be able to help kids relate themselves with the superhero. From having a crush on someone to getting bullied in school– all of these points were covered by Peter Parker’s character.
After the fateful bite from the radioactive spider, Peter Parker gradually changed into a tougher, more agile, flexible and sensitive individual. He could jump long distances and even swing from building to building with the help of his webs and even climb walls using his bare hands only. These were the results of the bite and Peter Parker did not use his newfound abilities to get back at the people who bullied him. Instead, he took on a new alias and became the superhero of New York City.
He has been helping authorities find the city’s biggest thugs and his quests have often brought more harm than good to him. His uncle Ben and girlfriend Gwen Stacy were murdered due to Spiderman’s vigilante activities but did Peter Parker stop? No! He continued to save New York and joined other superheroes in their quest to saving the world.
