So you might be a huge fan of the Spidey comic books but are you Spidey movie-buff too? Here are 10 of the most awesome Spiderman film trivia rarely mentioned in the film and by the film cast as well.
- The first few teaser posters for the film included the NYC skyline with the WTC reflection on Spiderman’s eyepieces. After the 9/11 attack, these posters were replaced with new ones, making the original posters instant limited collectibles.
- More than 5 Spiderman costumes were made for the entire film (Spiderman I) however, 4 of which were stolen from the set. What’s the cost for each one? A whopping $ 100, 000!
- In a scene in the first film, Uncle Ben drops Peter Parker off at the library and behind them, you can see an advertisement for “The Producers”, a musicale by Mel Brooks. Brooks was apparently upset over the mentioning of his musical, he sued Sony for releasing it.
- Spiderman 2 was shipped to cinemas as “Spray Paint”
- Did they really use a real spider for the scene where Peter is bitten by a radioactive spider? Yes, they did. Steve Kutcher, the creative artist, used a special kind of make up to paint the back side of the Black Widow spider which they used for this scene.
- Thomas Jane, the star of The Punisher made a non-speaking cameo in the film. You can see him walk behind Mary Jane in the last part of the second film.
- Mr. Ditkovich, Peter Parker’s land lord in the film was named after Spiderman co-creator, Steve Ditko.
- Before Toby Maguire was cast as your friendly neighbor, Spiderman, James Franco auditioned for the main role but was cast as Harry Osborn by director, Sam Raimi.
- To prepare for his superhero role, Toby Maguire took up gymnastics, yoga, biking and other several physical exercises.
- Spiderman 3 is the last project for Sam Raimi, Maguire, and Dunst to appear together. The new Spiderman will have Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker while Christoph Waltz of Inglorious Basterds fame has been rumored to appear as the main villain.
